Understanding Candle Snuffers and their Benefits

Have you ever wondered why candle snuffers exist? I mean, who needs a special tool just to extinguish a candle? Well let me tell you a brief story on the importance of these seemingly insignificant objects.

One of my customers reached out to me and said that they couldn’t smell their white sage and lavender candle any more after a few burns. I was so confused because I have never gotten a complaint about my candles before. After troubleshooting with them via email I still could not figure out what was causing the candle to lose its fragrance.

Mid troubleshooting they told me they can smell the candle but it smells like the fragrance was buried in the candle which was not always the case. Now I’m extra puzzled because nothing I know about candles is making sense in this scenario. I asked them to send me a picture of the candle and my jaw dropped when I saw the photo.

Y'all the lid of the candle was BLACK it looked like it had soot on it and the wax looked like it had traces of soot in it as well which should never be the case. To just be sure I was not wrong I asked them what was on the lid?  They confirmed my original thought it was soot. They were using  the lid to burn out the candle after they were done with it.

They had suffocated the fragrance of the candle unintentionally. While the wax is still in liquid form and so hot it’s permeable to scents. They had trapped all the smoke scent into the wax. It’s why they could only smell the fragrance of white sage and lavender underneath the wax. This I could help them fix;  I had them light the candle again and pour out the wax until they could smell the fragrance like it’s on top of the wax again. Once we got the smokey wax layer removed the candle once lit smelt actually like it did when they first got it.

What's the Deal with Candle Snuffers?

In a nutshell, they are nifty little devices designed to safely extinguish candles without causing any mess or fuss. They typically consist of a handle and a bell-shaped or cone-shaped top that fits over the flame.

Now, you might be thinking, "Can't I just blow out a candle?" Well, technically, you can. But using a candle snuffer is a game-changer, my friend. Not only does it prevent hot wax from splattering all over your favorite tablecloth (we've all been there), but it also eliminates that unpleasant smoky smell that lingers in the air after blowing out a candle.

Why Should You Use a Candle Snuffer?

Let's dive deeper into the reasons why candle snuffers are the real MVPs of the candle world:

1. Safety First, Always

Using a candle snuffer is the safest way to extinguish a candle. When you blow out a candle, you risk accidentally sending sparks flying or even knocking the candle over. With a snuffer, you have full control over the flame, ensuring a safe and controlled extinguishing process.

2. Preserve the Magic

Have you ever blown out a candle and felt a pang of sadness as the flame disappeared? Well, with a candle snuffer, you can preserve the magic a little longer. Gently placing the snuffer over the flame feels like performing a mini ritual, keeping the enchantment alive.

3. No More Smoke and Mirrors

Blowing out a candle often results in a cloud of smoke that can quickly fill a room. It's like a magician's smoke and mirrors trick, but without the cool illusions. By using a snuffer, you can say goodbye to the smoky aftermath and hello to a clean and fresh environment.

4. A Touch of Elegance

Let's be honest, using a candle snuffer adds a touch of elegance and sophistication to any candle-lit setting. It's like having your own personal butler to attend to your candle needs. Who wouldn't want to feel like royalty while enjoying the warm glow of a flickering flame?

5. The Perfect Gift

Looking for a unique and thoughtful gift? Look no further than a candle snuffer. It's a practical yet unexpected present that shows you truly care about someone's candle experience. Plus, it's a conversation starter. Trust me, you'll be the talk of the town with your snuffer gifting skills.

Conclusion

So, there you have it. Candle snuffers may seem like a small and insignificant accessory, but they play a crucial role in the world of candles. From safety to elegance, they offer a range of benefits that can enhance your candle experience. So, the next time you light a candle, don't forget to give a nod of appreciation to the unsung heroes of the candle world: the candle snuffer.
